Australia Beats the Resilient Bangladesh By 48 Runs.


Nottingham who hosted its last match of the tournament saw a perfect run-feast. Bangladesh who came into this game after chasing their highest ever score against west indies. After winning the toss on a wet outfield Australia decided to bat first and proved quite a right decision as openers aaron finch and david warner joined the century run opening stand. David warner who is having his best of the tournaments crashed his second century of the event. David warner thrashed Bangladeshi bowlers all round the stadium.
David warner hit 14 fours and 5 sixes in his knock of 166 before dismissed by part time bowler soumya sarkar who eventually was the pick of the bowlers dismissing three of the five Australian wickets. Usman khawaja showed a good intent with a bat Nothing up crucial 89 runs. Steve smith failed in this match as he was trapped in front by mustafizur on the score of just one. Australia made a huge 381-5 in 50 overs setting up a stiff chase for bangladesh.
Unexpectedly soumya sarkar was the pick of bowlers with three wickets.
In Reply Bangladesh showed a good resilience with a bat in this huge run-chase. After soumya sarkar was run-out for just 10, Shakib al hassan who hit two centuries in this world cup had a great time with the bat here too. Tamim iqbal also made a good contribution with the bat who made a vital 62 before being bowled by mitchell starc. After liton das was dismissed on a team score of 175, mahmadullah riyad and mishfiqur rahim joined a crucial 127 run stand for the fifth wicket and kept some hopes of the Bangladeshi fans alive in the impossible run chase for them. Mahmadullah was dismissed on 69 by stoinis who picked up two in two balls dismissing mahmadullah and shabbir on successive balls. Mushfiqur Rahim who was also in great touch in this event cracked a superb century but all his effort went in vain as Bangladesh fell short by only 48 runs and produced a great fighting spirit against the defending champions and the world's best odi side. Bangladesh went on to make 333 for the loss of eight wickets in the alloted fifty overs, for Australia nathan coulternile, mitchell starc and marcus stoinis picked up two wickets each.
With this win Australia tops the points table with ten points
